Waiting for democracy
I’m not alone. I see it all over the other blogs that I read. All of us rubber-tramp nomads are feeling the pinch. With the Government shutdown, many of the places we want to visit are shuttered.
So, what am I doing? I am sitting in Washington waiting to see if our politicians (either side) can remove their thumbs from their rectums. I have been looking forward to seeing Olympic National Park, Mount Rainer, and Mt St Helens for years. Finally, this year I made the trek all the way out there, costing me a fair amount of money to do. I am (was) hoping that things would sort themselves out by mid-week, but it appears not be happening, so I may just be leaving Washington empty handed as I have other plans to attend to in Portland on the 20th. I will give it another few days before turning South, but my hopes are not high.
Some part of me just wants this government shutdown to completely tank the entire system so badly that it ends it all. A failure so huge, so catastrophic, that the government can not recoup and crumbles into the first flush of the American-government toilet that I live in. I am by no means an Anarchist, but this week I have been asking myself which would be worse?
