The end of another epic adventure
On October 27th, my Mother and I took off on our third big traveling adventure. Today, we returned back to her home in California after driving more than 4500 miles through five different states over a 40-day period.
We camped above Mono Lake, bathed in natural hot springs, drove over Hoover Dam, came damn near entering Mexico, got attacked by ants and bats, found out just how damn big Texas really is, walked along a river in downtown San Antonio, watched the world’s most advanced cars race in Austin, camped on a beach in the Gulf of Mexico, began to really dislike Texas, hiked in an underground cavern, and visited a 7,500 year old house without experiencing any foul weather… until we returned to California.
Just hours left in our multi-week trip and we finally run into rain, fog, and snow as we closed in on and crossed into California… who woulda thunk it? Leave it to California to ruin a perfectly good adventure!
On a side note, my adventure started 9 days, two states, and 1100+ miles earlier. Tomorrow marks my 50th day since leaving Colorado. In that 49 days I have traveled just over 5770 miles (almost half of all the miles I drove in the entire 2012 year) with many more to come… hmmm, after a short break.
