The end of a van-tramp

Well, that’s it folks! Almost 10 years to the day that I bought Jonas (aka Big Blue), he was handed off to the new owners at Phoenix International Airport. From there we rented a mini-van (a Dodge too), packed it full of all our belongings, and took off on a three day trek to get ourselves back to our boat in Washington state. We are no longer van-tramps, but Kerri and I will continue traveling on the sailboat. If you care to follow those travels, we blog about the sailboat-life at www.roadtothesea.com

During my time in the old van, which would have been ten years on March 3rd, we have done a lot together; In the USA we traveled to 29 states, 113 National Parks, (2 more states in Baja, and another National Park), nearly 100,000 miles, and countless other adventures. My son was raised nearly half his life traveling in this van. My dog has spent his entire six year life traveling in it. I met Kerri because of this van. We have a lot of history together which is why it is great to see that he will continue the travels with the new owners.

Big Blue is now based out of Texas – he has always wanted Texas plates – and has promised to take the new owners on many more adventures. It sounds as if he will retain the Big Blue name as well… time will tell. The new owners say they will blog their travels as well, and if so I will post a link on this page when I get it.
