The cost of 2013 Q2
This quarter has been spent entirely sitting in one location, making it quite different to last quarter where I was on the road traveling. This quarter I’ve also been on a self-quest of living on less than $30 per day, and while I did achieve it last month ($29.71 per day) I did even better this month with ($27.13 per day) spending only $814 for the month.
When comparing the two quarters, it is obvious where most of my savings comes from; my gasoline costs were reduced by nearly 60% and not having to pay for any RV parks or camping at all. However, I did spend more on a few categories, mainly auto registrations and repairs. Happily, my total food costs have not increased even though I spent much more on dining-out this quarter (but less on groceries).
July will not be a savings month as I will be preparing to restart my adventures in August. August, of course, will go back to spending a lot of money of gasoline again, but at least I will get to go back to my normal rhythm, and spending.
To summarize my year-to-date figures:
Gasoline total: $1,386 in 2013
Food total: $1,695 in 2013
Camping total: $245 (22 nights total)
Or to put it into daily-averages:
Gasoline: $7.67 per day
Food: $9.36 per day
Camping: $1.34 per day
