Stuck in Deming for a day
Not that it is a bad thing… I’ve been parked in Deming, NM all day. It was a big work-day with a promotion going on that needed a lot of my attention. By early evening things had settled enough for me to start thinking of where I am going next… and I have no idea.
I hung out at “Pit Park” and it is exactly what is sounds like, a large pit in the dirt that the city made into a park. A unique thing I must say, though I really did not get to enjoy it as I was huddled up in the van the entire day.
As you can see from my travel map, I have driven 1200 miles but I am only 700 miles from where I left 13 days ago. There are a few state parks nearby that I could visit, but state parks have never done much for me. I’m only an hour’s drive from Arizona where I have a half-dozen places worth seeing, but part of me is having a tough time crossing that imaginary line at the Arizona/New Mexico border. Once I cross that line, I know I am not going back into CO for a while. If I turn north now, I can be back at ‘home’ in a long-days drive. Once I’m in Arizona, I’m closer to Mom in California and that is where I would head if I grow tired of tramping about. I will have to decide in the morning
Man, I wish I had a dog
