On the road again – Part 2

Our morning began with another small parade of Elk coming through camp. A few were so interested in me, standing outside the trailer warming myself in the sun, that they came to nearly arms-reach before I back stepped to keep distance (just not worth the risk on my end).

We were packed and moving by mid-morning, stopping in Grand Lake to resupply before taking a tour of the waterfront and town itself. We slowly made our way down into Granby where we hung out for lunch and to take care of my work. Here we setup the new umbrella we bought to ensure we had some shade no matter what. While the box advertises it as “gust proof” (flaps open to keep the umbrella from flight) it didn’t take more than the first gust to make me chase the stupid thing a half block down the street. It is completely tore up and we plan to stop into a Big-5 to replace it or refund.

Not much farther south now, just heading back up near the continental divide, we stopped at Robber’s Roost Campground by 2pm. Although it is only a few hundred yards off the highway, it is heavily wooded and quiet enough. We are still in the 9000ft range so we will expect a fairly cool night and morning.

Our total mileage yesterday was under 80 miles traveled. Today we logged another 45 or so. In fact, looking at a map we are less than 25 miles from Peaceful Valley though it is on the other side of the divide.
