Mud Lake

Not far out of Nederland, CO is the Caribou Ranch trail system. Tim, Moose, and myself jumped in the car to take the 1-hour drive. Tim needs to time behind the wheel of a stick-shift and if you live in Colorado, practice on mountainous roads is wise.

However, upon arrival we were met with – what is becoming a clear bias from Boulder County – a ‘no dogs’ sign. We were forced to move down the road to the Mud Lake trail system (also Boulder County, but no ‘no dogs’ signage). Although we were prepared for a much longer hike, the 1 mile around Mud Lake did the trick, and the temperatures were much cooler at the 8,000ft elevation than it was down on the Front Range.
