Mittry Lake

The decision to stay near the Yuma area for another week was made after the initial trip to Algodones. Follow up appoints were made for dental work so additional time staying local was needed – however, a move to Arizona has finally calmed the nerves aftering being in California for far too long. So, this week will be spent boondocking at Mittry Lake (check it out on Campendium) within the Mittry Lake Wildlife Area where one has ample opportunity for camping, fishing, wildlife watching, hiking, boating, and even hunting.

Due to arriving on a Saturday afternoon we were not left with a whole lot of options of places to camp. Instead of wasting too much time trying to find the perfect spot, we settled on a location very near the boat ramp. This meant we got a little traffic each day, but this does not take away from the experience of Mittry Lake.

Warm days, cool nights, singing birds, wild packs of mosquitoes, and the distant booms of bombs hitting their target at the proving grounds over the horizon are all part of the vibe here. Peaceful yet close enough to town to run errands, Mittry Lake is yet another great boondocking location. IMG_1846 IMG_1847 IMG_1858 IMG_1861 IMG_1917IMG_1870IMG_1940
