Lost Creek State Park
I stumbled onto Lost Creek State park, which features the 50 foot waterfall, aptly named Lost Creek Falls. Only a few miles off my path up Interstate 90, near Anaconda, MT, I pulled in to see the sights and snap a few photos. Even though Montana, at least the few hundred miles of it I have seen this week, already has amazing scenery every where you look, Lost Creek is another gem within a pile of gems.
It is set within a canyon with steep cliffs of rock on either side. At the bottom a creek *covered* in plant life. Grass, flowers, berries, and large trees made up a jungle of sorts around the creek. Alongside the creek runs a gravel road that will bring you to within a 100 yards of the falls.
The park even has camping all along the creek. I might have stayed, as I would have had the entire park to myself, but the Verizon signal just would not hold… and I have places to be before the week is over. Still, Lost Creek State Park is a must-drop-in if rolling up I90 north of Butte Montana and even a must-stay if you have the time and no need for cell service.
