Leaving Colorado & arriving in Teton

Parked beside Wind River

Monday morning at 10:30AM we left Conor’s place to drive North-West-ward to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. The first half of the day was spent behind the wheel fighting an overwhelming head-wind that killed any hopes of good fuel mileage. We suffered through it as best we could all the way to Rawlins, WY where we turned more North than West. The wind was now pushing the side of the van instead of directly into the grill. While better for fuel consumption, it pushed us around for a few more hours before finally calming down enough to straighten the steering wheel.

By evening, after 10 hours of driving, we were within 100 miles of Grand Teton and planned to park along the riverside (Wind River) for the night. After spending a fair amount of time scouting around and snapping some pictures, we did decided to go ahead and finish off the few miles to put us in the park for the night. The idea of waking to the Tetons pushed us over the snow capped Togawee pass and into the park by 10PM.
