Keough Hot Springs, CA

After leaving the Lee Vining and Mono Lake area, I continued south out of Bishop in search of a sight to pull over and camp for the night. After a few failed attempts I turned down a dirt road and was very surprised to find some hot springs!

I quickly stripped down and jumped in the nearest pool that was not already occupied by someone else. The water was bath temperature, which was just too hot when it was already 80+ degrees outside. Still, to have some running warm water cleaning away the past 3 days of grime was hitting all the right spots. Cleaned up and ready for a good night’s sleep. I have just enough Internet to get my work done tonight and watch a movie before bed.

While I can get away with one, maybe two nights of boondocking here, this is actually land owned by the L.A. water district. While there is no signs specifically prohibiting camping, it does get enough traffic of daily users that it may be best not to push your luck.
