Carlsbad Caverns, natural entrance
Since we were passing nearby, I stopped in at Carlsbad Caverns so I could hike down the natural entrance. Last year I only had time for the elevator ride and the ‘Big room’ hike, but today we had time for me to make the short 1.2 mile hike down.
It was a steep decline, dropping 750 feet (roughly 1/8th mile) down into the cavern. Even at the cool underground temps I was working up some heat. This trip I remembered to bring my tripod to get some better low-light pictures underground.
