Roosevelt National Forest, Camp Dick campground

Actually, the Peaceful Valley campground was still closed due to downed trees, but Camp Dick (same road, just further down) was open. Really, that is the true name; Camp Dick. They knew I was coming I guess.

As you can see, we got everything setup; Mom in the trailer, Tim and Ryan in a tent, myself in my (proper) van, and Conor stayed a few nights with us in the mini-van. The awning from my van easily reached out and gave us a 6 X 10 foot of shade between the van and trailer.

Conor and i hiked out to the an old airplane wreck about 4 miles from camp. He hiked out to it last year by himself, and I regretted not going ever since. This time I made sure to do it, even with a knee that was a little weak after a 2.75 mile run the day before. It all turned out well, and the pay-off at the end made the discomfort of my knee worth it.

We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed BBQs, camp fires, a little shooting, and the afternoon showers which kept the temperatures mild.
