Calaveras Big Trees State Park, almost
With my son in town for the holiday, I have devoted myself to entertaining him as much as I could entertain a teenager. Today we took the hour drive down Hwy 49 to Calaveras Big Trees State Park to see if we can mingle with the huge redwoods…
Unfortunately, thanks to California’s great budgeting work there were no rangers staffing the park which meant the majority of the park was closed and inaccessible to the general public. This did not stop the state from still asking us to pay to visit the park that we could not actually visit. We did take a few minutes to see what we could, but after an hour’s drive it was a major let down.
