Borrego wind tunnel
After an early Xmas with Kerri’s family in the South Bay last weekend, we did make it down to Borrego Springs in one and a half days of driving. It is nice to be back in Borrego Springs as it holds a special place in both our hearts as the place we met last January. Even the van is with us, as we continue yet another remodel – which I will detail at a later date.
We were the sixth trailer (and van) to join the group already camped here in the desert a few miles outside of town. More are showing up each day, with an expected 29+ rigs to attend at some point over the next week or two.
Unfortunately, within hours of our arrival back on Monday, the wind kicked up and has not let up since. The weather reports are all about high wind warnings and gusts up to 75mph. That is all fine and dandy when cuddled up in the trailer, but not so much fun when you want to get outside to explore or socialize. We have even seen our first solar panel fatality within the group thanks to the wind.
It has not completely killed anyone’s spirit (yet) as most evenings we gather outside for happy hour and on Christmas itself we had a potluck as a group, while hiding behind a trailer to block the wind.
The dogs are enjoying the freedom of off-leash camping… of course.
Hope the wind lets up soon! Looks like it is getting pretty cold at night too.
That special day is just around the corner!
Today it finally let up, thankfully!
