A new camera for a new adventure

My previous camera – a Canon Rebel Xsi – had served me well for the three years I have owned it. Although it is still more than enough camera for my photography abilities, one area that it has been inadequate was its inability to shoot video. My son has been slowly talking me into some vlogging (video-blogging for you Internet noobs) over the past year and I am slowly succumbing to his pressure.

I had planned to purchase a small camcorder before the next leg of my travels but I found a sweet deal on Craig’s List to upgrade my current camera to a model that does shoot video, and a few extra megapixels for the still photos. As you may know, I am a big fan of things that can serve more than a single purpose, so a camera that can also shoot video is great; one less item to store and keep charged.

The old Xsi is already in the mail to my Niece who showed interest in photography but had no camera to explore it. Now she does, and I get to be the cool-uncle for a while.

With the new camera comes a new YouTube page which is where I will be posting the Van-Tramp vlogs (I will also be posting them here I imagine).
