1000 days
Today marks a new milestone for me; 1000 days living exclusively in the 90-some-odd square feet of space in the Big Blue van. Some may ask if I am tired of it, but the answer to that is a resounding negative. In fact, the few times I have slept in a brick-and-mortar house during these past 1000 days I have genuinely missed my bed inside Big Blue. I sleep better in the van then in a house. Friends and family sometimes fail to understand that when they insist I stay indoors with them. It is easy to forget that the van is not just a vehicle, but my home.
I’ve traveled 28,000 miles during these 1000 days seeing and doing more in these [roughly] 3 years than in the 40 before. Ironically, I celebrate this milestone during the longest streak of non-traveling since 2010. I will have been stationary for a total of 8 months in 2014 before restarting my travels this December. The time has not gone to waste however, as the extra work has provided a nice influx in cash to keep me on the road for some time to come… hopefully another 1000 days… (that would be June 17th, 2017 by the way)
