About us
Hi, I am Tim. I started traveling in my van in 2010. Though I had no clue at the time, there was no stopping the inevitable; I was now a nomad. I spent the first two years traveling – part-time – all over the West. I did so with little knowledge about van-life or full-time nomadic life – learning everything as I went. By the end of 2011 I couldn’t hold the need back any longer, starting a life of full-time traveling in the van.
Kerri and I became nomads separately at different times and in different places. In 2015, thanks to close friends, we met on the road, fell in love, and have been traveling together since. We have traveled all over the United States, parts of Canada, up to Alaska, over to Hawaii, and as far south as the tip of Baja, alternating back and forth between our two rigs for a few years until 2019 when we bought a sailboat and started that lifestyle. More about us
We have sold the van and now live exclusively on our boat. Feel free to follow us on our sailboat blog and facebook page.
About the van
Big Blue is a 1989 Dodge B250 with a 5.9 liter V8 engine. His name is not Big Blue actually. It is “Jonas”, named after a large whale that traveled the world (but was cursed to never touch water) from a book I loved in my earlier years. When I was in the market for a van in early 2010 I was lucky enough that this old beast was for sale in Boulder, CO, just a few miles down the road from where I was living. I bought Big Blue in March of 2010 and started traveling immediately. Big Blue has gone through a lot of changes since then including a new interior in 2014, a new paint job, and another complete rebuild of the interior in 2017. More about Big Blue
